About The Hive
The Hive Venture started with a simple idea: to bring new life to a building in our neighborhood while creating a place where small businesses could grow. Built in 1915, the building has been a part of the neighborhood for more than a century. After a fire in the adjacent property left it sitting vacant for nearly two years, NRDesign owner Nicole Dumont saw an opportunity to bring this neighborhood cornerstone back to life and give it a new purpose.
Today, The Hive offers private offices, flexible workspaces, shared amenities, and plenty of room to connect and collaborate. Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to focus, a professional setting to meet with clients, or simply the chance to work alongside other local business owners and creatives, The Hive is a place to feel at home while building something of your own.

History Of The Hive
Built in 1915 and originally known as the Hovston Building, The Hive has been part of the neighborhood for more than a century, with many stories.
1957
A glimpse into the building’s past. This photo, taken in 1957, shows the Hovston Building serving the neighborhood as a commercial storefront. While its exact use at the time is unknown, the image reflects the building’s long history as a place for local business and community activity, a purpose that continues today through The Hive.
2022
Before the 2023 fire, the Hovston Building was part of a larger group of connected commercial buildings that had served the neighborhood for decades. This view shows the site before the adjoining building was lost, providing a glimpse of how the property once fit into the surrounding neighborhood.
2023
In 2023, a fire destroyed the adjoining building, which was later demolished. The Hovston Building remained standing but sat vacant for nearly two years. The fire marked a turning point in the building’s story and created an opportunity to restore a neighborhood landmark and give it a new purpose as The Hive.
